Good copywriting in social media is very important and can be the difference between a post nobody cares about and a post that makes people think, interact, and even take an action.

In this blog, I want to share with you 7 Social Media Copywriting tips you can use to generate more engagement in your posts!

1. Use Verbs!

In any type of copy, you write its very important that you use an active language. For example adding a call to actions such as: Get, click, take, download, etc. Words like this encourage the people who are reading your copy to take action!

2. You have to make it about the reader.

Don’t brag about how amazing you or your business are. People don’t care about that, what they care about is how reading what you wrote or how your product or service is going to help them. Always think and focus on the reader.

Example: “Get comfortable prices in comfy sofas. Test them out for free today.” The more you use these words the more engagement you will have.

3. Keep it simple

Don’t overthink. Focus on keeping your writing simple. You can use 1 or 2 syllable words. Instead of saying residential property ( which is a more technical term) use simpler words like home or land, don’t complicate it by using longer or difficult words.

4. Use questions to call out your market

This is a great way to grab the attention of people in the very crowded social media place.

These questions are great to make people in your audience notice you since you are talking directly to them. Questions to call out some of the people’s fears. Look at your customer’s fear at yelp, Facebook groups, forums, etc. By doing this you will learn a lot about your audience and it will help you create content addressing those fears, plus tons of engagement.

Example: Do you trust this person? Do you trust this product? Great way to make people engage.

5. Be specific

You want to be clear, don’t leave things open to interpretation. Being vague is just going to kill your conversion rate. People don’t want to think too much, they just want to know what is going to happen. Give all the details, instructions, and the exact steps they need to take in order to obtain X.

6. CTA Use Call to Action

You need to include a call to action in every copy you write. It doesn’t matter if it is a blog, email, social media post, video, etc. You must include a call to action in it!

Example: Click this link now! Learn more here…

7. Use proven formulas

A formula is a way to write copy that actually works and can bring you results. And you know it works because experts have tested and used them on a daily basis to improve their sales.

Example of some very popular and effective formulas:

-PAS: (Problem Agitate, Solution)

Example: Your leaky sink(problem) is draining your wallet (agitation). We will fix this. Call us now! (Solution).

AIDA ( Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action)

Example: Got dirty laundry? (attention) We will clean it for you! ( interest). Enjoy free coffee and wifi while you wait ( desire). Visit us now. Link (action )

I highly encourage you to research these formulas in more detail and apply them in your next copy.

Always remember to create content that is relevant to your audience. Take advantage of the news and things that are going on in your industry. There are always news and things going on.

Test any of these 7 tips the next time you create any type of copy for your social media and you will see how your posts get more engagement and you make people take the actions you want them to take!
